Arne Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his future following a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” Slot stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory of course but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

The manager highlighted known weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a phase of this nature with results like these.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
