Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Additional Developments
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
It said debris fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
