New information has come to light concerning the tragic deaths of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.

The Alarm

A source indicates referencing a confidential source, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the house. This individual then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.

When she went into the home, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had gone with her promptly called 911. Following this, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Developments

Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently in custody and is ineligible for bail.

Clarifications

The confidential informant challenged several earlier details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that moment.

Additionally disputed widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction also extends to reports of alleged "unstable" conduct by Nick at a event thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they maintained that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.

Ongoing Inquiry Details

Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports indicated the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
