Across the intensely competitive world of video games, it's typical for new contenders to disappear as swiftly as they explode onto the landscape.
However the latest Battlefield is hoping to shift that dynamic.
This is the most recent addition in a long-running combat FPS line often positioned as a more authentic alternative to Call of Duty.
This game has seldom managed to match its most famous rival in terms of revenue or gamers, but there are signs the recent entry could close the gap.
An early access event allowing players a shot to experience the title earlier this year broke records, and the excitement heading into its debut has been huge.
Yet the project is still a major venture for publisher the gaming giant, which has reportedly invested huge sums of dollars developing it.

Development Group and Company Cooperation
A total of four studios are working on the game under the unified development initiative.
They include original series creator the Swedish studio, headquartered in Sweden, California's Motive Studios and Ripple Effect in the Great White North.
Another, the UK studio, is based in England.
Rebecka Coutaz is the general manager of the two EU-based teams, and tells us that, in terms of what it's providing gamers, "this new game is likely unmatched."
Building On Past Mistakes
The new release follows the release of the futuristic Battlefield 2042, published in the past to a poor reception it struggled to bounce back from.
"It's likely that we would not be able to create and produce this new game without the lessons we had in the last release," the manager tells our team.
One of those lessons was to get players engaged soon, and the studio started closed community trials not long ago.
This "reaction was explosively encouraging," comments Rebecka.
One more absent ingredient from Battlefield 2042 was a single-player campaign, which has been restored in this version.
The UK studio creative lead the design director is the one in charge of "guaranteeing those levels are as fun and compelling as feasible for the gamers."
In spite of claims that the scale of the title had challenged the different studios partnering globally to build the game, Fas is upbeat about the endeavor.
"Working with varied backgrounds, different heritages, it's a very engaging environment to be involved in on a regular basis," he explains.
"The complete strategy has been a fresh take but something very inspiring because we are collaborating with team members from internationally."
Concerning the expectation on the developers, he states: "We feel pressure but also it's exciting.
"It's a major venture. It's probably the largest that many of us have before participated in."
Young Developer Brings Fresh View
This is definitely correct of at least an individual staff, visual designer Vlad Kokhan.
The recent hire makes the visual ambiance that define the atmosphere, feel, and narrative of the story mode.
