A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign seeks to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Possibility for Unity and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it fails to, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”

Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.

“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The song was recorded following a solidarity show held in late summer. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.

The impressive roster of artists contributing to Lullaby encompasses a group of acclaimed names from the scene. All took part in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for relief efforts.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was crafted by a trio of talented individuals. The song showcases a combination of the heritage language with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the campaign have emphasized that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These donations will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“There is no a rigid aim,” a figure commented. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Of course, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”

The context in the area was noted for its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of buildings described as destroyed or damaged.

“Given that reality, a few million is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is launching on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
