The Two Fatalities Named in Brown University Incident as Authorities Continue Hunt for Gunman.

Two students who were killed in the recent violent attack at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – while an intensive search for their shooter persisted following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a gathering on Sunday.

Her role included the vice-presidency of Brown’s chapter of the campus GOP group, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also posted words of sorrow online, saying in part: “It's indescribable. Remembering her kin and peers, above all her mom and dad.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the renowned school, family members said.

His name was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He harbored grand aspirations of becoming a neurosurgeon and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

An additional nine individuals were injured in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Authorities said by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-man arrested in a raid at a hotel about 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“A perpetrator remains free,” declared Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”

Ongoing Concerns

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, noted: “This will probably generate new worry for our city”.

The assailant opened fire inside a lecture hall in the engineering building on Saturday, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a police source told the Associated Press.

Law enforcement that raided the hotel recovered a pair of pistols and two loaded 30-round magazines when the suspect was arrested, the news agency reported.

The Wounded Victims

Regarding the nine injured, one pupil was released from the hospital, mentioned the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in critical but stable condition, and one was in critical condition, authorities stated on Sunday.

Durham Academy, a private K-12 school in North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

More Condolences

Cook was remembered at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only during her upbringing... but at Brown University she was a radiant presence in that specific location as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the group. “Ella was recognized for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she aided her club and peers,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by the passing of Umurzokov in a tribute. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, friends, and schoolmates and lament the passing of his promising future.”
