Trump Calls Loved Ones of Shot Military Members to the Presidential Residence

Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member killed last week to come to the White House.

He noted that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Information on the Devastating Event

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.

White House Invitation

The president stated he’s proposed a White House visit for the parents of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president addressed journalists. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Response

Attendees gathered over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both they had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to aid public safety in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“Sarah was the individual that instructors wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the press. “She was caring, considerate and always eager to support those in need.”

Funeral details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Steps and Policy Adjustments

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old suspect with one count of homicide and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The incident caused the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and cease issuing visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a native of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the news agency.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told the program that she also intended to meet with his relatives.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with distinction, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had fortitude,” he told the audience at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
