Uche Fuels Dominant Crystal Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their maiden European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning very quickly. Without star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding win that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further victory in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to secure straight entry to the last 16, especially after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Grasp the Moment

This match provided a chance for several Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second game in match.

The Shelbourne team that had finished their league season were outmatched against a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Control Asserted from the Outset

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, driving a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the official dismissed the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.

The home side were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Wraps Up the Game

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

A solitary worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
